Jacksonville Firefighter suspended after domestic battery charges

Allen Hawk, 40, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department

Allen Hawk,40, of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department has been suspended, pending termination, after being arrested on charges of felony domestic battery by strangulation and misdemeanor domestic battery.

In July, Hawk was accused of strangling and beating a woman while he was intoxicated in St. Johns County. He's been employed by JFRD  as an engineer for 14 years, but according to a News4Jax investigation, this isn't Hawk's first round with domestic violence charges. He has been arrested approximately four times while working for JFRD for domestic violence, with only one of the charges being dropped.

The woman claimed that Hawk choked her until she passed out, medical officials told police she had suffered a concussion during the incident as well. He was reported to have punched her in the face for "not talking to him."
