According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, Florida's minimum wage will increase to $8.46 an hour starting on January 1st. That's up 21 cents from what it is now, at $8.25.
This is the biggest rise in minimum wage since 2012, when it rose 36 cents.
Critics say that this new minimum wage isn't going to go very far with other rising factors like housing costs.
Some push to have Florida raise its minimum wage to $15 an hour, like other states have. Amazon plans to do this, and other large corporations plan to follow suit.
Any employees who are not being paid the increased minimum wage starting January 1st, have the right to sue their employer.
