How Music Can Relieve Your Hangover

While many products claim to have the answer, the only consensus cure for a hangover is time.

For eons, people have been searching for something a bit more ... immediate.

How can we have all the fun we want but not have to pay the price? Why must our bodies punish us with hangovers?

While there might not be a cure, that doesn't mean you should just sit there and bear your hangover.

There are lots of things that can treat your symptoms, and one of them is music!

While most people are inclined to simply wallow in their own suffering after a big night out, studies show that it's important to boost your spirits (not the ones in your liquor cabinet) and, most importantly, reactivate your brain.

That hangover haze you feel after drinking too much isn't a figment of your imagination; it's not tiredness either.

It's a result of your brain being flooded with cytokines, which are chemicals that interfere with "normal processing and memory function in the brain."

Yes, not only does too much alcohol make you act like an ass, it also makes you temporarily dumb!

One of the easiest ways to counteract this affect and re-stimulate your brain's grey matter is by listening to particular kinds of music.

Researchers at Sunway University College in Malaysia found that listening to some jaunty tunes that clock in at around 120 beats per minute is enough to improve your memory, motivation and focus

Think "Even Flow" by Pearl Jam, "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey or "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga.

Basically, any less intense workout playlist should do the trick.

And speaking of working out...

After you've got some music on, doing some bodyweight exercises to get your heart rate up will do wonders to make your liver forgive you.
